Every profession has an element that makes it unique, something that separates it and drives people to choose it over the other providers.
I’m going to share what makes chiropractic unique and what ultimately what made so much sense to me that I became a chiropractor.
To start off my chiropractic journey began when at 17/18 years old I suffered a severe lower back injury and after a rollercoaster ride trying to get this sorted nothing seemed to be working and eventually I ended up visiting a chiropractor. It was at this point when I started to learn there’s more to life than just getting by.
Something that was brought to my attention is the ability of our body to heal itself without having to give it any thought whatsoever. No doubt we’ve all had cuts, grazes and some of us broken bones at some point during our life but there is a reason why these are no longer present. Because given the right conditions, these ailments were able to heal themselves. Those ‘right conditions’ may range from a cast to support a broken bone, a plaster to support a cut or a well adjusted spine and nervous system to support your body.
Secondly, I learnt about the nervous system. Why is this important? Well it controls EVERYTHING in your body from your eyes tracking over these words, your heart beating right down to your immune system fighting off the numerous bugs encountered daily. What truly separates chiropractic from the rest here is it is the only profession that focuses on optimising this system.
What really stuck with me after starting chiropractic wasn’t that my back pain was gone after months of discomfort but I had come out feeling better than what I did prior to my injury and it all made so much sense.
Restore the balance between the spine and nervous system and allow the body to heal itself.
This is what makes chiropractic unique. This is what separates chiropractic from the rest.
